ATC Labs, a global audio and speech technology development and services firm announces the availability of an optimized Multi-Format Video Coding Engine (MFVC) with transcoding capabilities. This optimized, high performance product supports H.264, H.263+, MPEG-2, MPEG-1 video coding formats with inter and intra format coding capabilities.
This latest video codec product, which is being made available in three versions, encodes raw input data to any specified format of video and decodes any format of video to raw format. It also provides transcoding from a given format of video to any specified format using the built-in ATC labs video codecs. Optimization for speed & code compactness and perceptual quality is the key focus in the design of this MFVC, which is being developed as an optimized C codec with a common core surrounded by format specific components and a common API to invoke any of the in-built formats.
The first version (available April 2007) provides the encoding and decoding of H.264, H.263+ and MPEG-2 formats of video in highest quality using ATC Labs optimized versions of the respective codecs.
The second version (available May 2007) focuses on H.264 to MPEG-2 inter-format transcoding and vice-versa, and quality improvement of H.264 codec based on perceptual based optimization algorithms.
The third version (available June 2007) provides H.263+ to H.264, MPEG-2 to H.264 inter-format transcoding and vice-versa, along with added features to H.263+, H.264 and MPEG-2 codecs.
Intra-format video transcoding is addressed in further versions. Additional features to each codec and transcoding to additional video formats in each version may be added based on the customer requirements.
